Which Way Works for You?
We offer two methods to complete the applique stitching and flying geese on the Loads of Fun Block of the Month … either with your sewing machine or your embroidery machine. Let’s compare the two ways …
Use Your Sewing Machine to applique blocks one – twelve and foundation paper piece your flying geese
Sewing Machine Applique
You will want to choose Loads of Fun Sewing Machine Applique Block of the Month if you want to use your sewing machine to stitch the applique. You’ll receive a full-size applique placement guide to use with your pre-fused, laser cut applique pieces and recommended stitch order with thread colors for each block!
You will also use your sewing machine and the provided foundation paper piecing templates to create perfect flying geese for your quilt borders. You’ll make six flying geese each month – easy peasy!
You’ll piece your entire quilt top together using your sewing machine and can then choose to quilt your Loads of Fun Quilt on your sewing machine, by hand or you can send it off to a longarm quilter.
use your embroidery machine to applique blocks one – twelve & piece your flying geese
Embroidery Machine Applique
You’ll want to choose Loads of Fun Embroidery Machine Applique Block of the Month if you want to use your Embroidery Machine to build the applique units and stitch the applique for Blocks One – Twelve in the hoop. These downloadable embroidery files work specifically with your pre-fused, laser cut applique pieces that you receive each month in your Loads of Fun Box!
You’ll also use your embroidery machine to piece the flying geese for your borders. You will build six flying geese in the hoop of your embroidery machine each month!
The most important thing to know: your embroidery hoop MUST be 8″ by 12″. Please use the Loads of Fun Test File to test the size of your embroidery hoop.
